Our Client is a well-established Safari, Touring, Hotel & Resort business based in Arusha, Tanzania. The Tourism sector runs safaris, tour designing, planning and operations to various National Parks which are of interest to the wildlife enthusiastic visitors and guests from all over the world.
The Group Company boasts a well-known luxury boutique style hotel in Arusha catering to foreign tourists and affluent local patrons. It has won several awards and recognition, and is featured on TripAdvisor, Expedia and other popular online international hotel booking sites. In May of 2016, the company opened a resort and tourist lodge located very close to a UNESCO world heritage site called the Ngorongoro crater. This lodge caters to medium-upper end tourists and visitors from within and out of the country.
The Group Company is also in the midst of diversifying and extending its operations into real estate and property development.
The Group Company is seeking a well-qualified FINANCE MANAGER (“FM”) to join its dynamic team of professionals, with a mandate to oversee and manage all Finance functions within the business lines mentioned above. This position is based in Arusha, Tanzania and will require selected candidate, who resides out of the city of country, to relocate to Arusha.
SUMMARY:
Reporting functionally to Managing Director, the FINANCE MANAGER will be responsible for overseeing, reporting and submitting full financial books of multiple entities for the organization’s current and growing lines of business, in compliance of the company, regulatory and government policies, timelines and guidelines. The Finance Manager will also be accountable to report to the Board of Directors on relevant matters and reporting.
This is a pivotal leadership position which will require the incumbent to oversee his/her management mandate in THREE distinct areas:
Financial & Budget planning, implementation reporting, systems & processes;
Internal audit & controls, including, measurement/KPIs, governance & compliance;
Financial Risk, Credit Risk, Debt & Financial Performance Management
The candidate will have expertise and at all times be up-to-date with Tanzania’s Taxation laws and regulations, and will advise senior management of prudent financial accountability, risk management, and tax compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT | PLANNING | REPORTING
Consistently examine cash flow management, P&L of all cost centres, and seek ways to contain/reduce/manage operational costs. Monthly reporting to Management is required.
Oversee, manage & report multiple financial books of existing and growing sector entities.
Oversee and handle credit risk, debt controls & overall financial risk management. Ensure appropriate monitoring, management and escalation procedures are in place to mitigate risks.
Oversee and contribute to financial planning, controls & budgeting.
Develop financial modeling tools, set up performance measures, and conduct sensitivity analysis to support strategic decision.
Conduct a review, modify or set up proper accounting practices and reporting as required; these would include:
o Daily stock control/verification.
o Invoicing/billing reconciliation
o Local purchase order (LPO) and payment thereof.
o Debtors control.
o Creditors control.
o Statutory requirements such as VAT returns, salaries, PENSION fund remittance and other such as different levies.
o Credit card payments reconciliation.
o Bank reconciliation.
Prepare and review the entire chart of accounts, for reporting and submission to Management
Ensure proper recording of financial transactions, banking, cash flows and petty cash management. In this context, prepare clear systems and guidelines for relevant staff to ensure compliance and reporting.
Implement proper monitoring and filtering system to provide accurate reflection of company’s financial strength, weakness, threats and opportunities. Prepare to present this to Management.
Prepare final accounts for audit.
Participate in audit and defend practices and systems when required to do so by tax authorities. Ensure clear and up-to-date understanding of Tax Laws and obligations.
Advise management of prudent financial accountability and management.
Conduct regular internal audits, ensuring controls and compliance. This includes establishing and monitoring relevant KPIs and measurements.
Maintain auditor, banking, legal and relevant relationships.
Ensure compliance with all legal, country-specific governance, corporate and relevant regulatory requirements.
PEOPLE, SUPERVISORY & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT | REPORTING STRUCTURE
Manage direct reports in accordance with company standards and applicable laws, ensuring compliance, timeleness and accountability of all duties.
Responsible for overall direction, supervision, coordination, and performance evaluation of relevant reporting staff.
Mobilize resources to determine competency gaps and training needs.
Must have good knowledge and understanding of responsibilities and functions of direct reports across the lines of business as follows:
o Accounts Payables per Unit
o Accounts Receivables per Unit
o Accounts Head per Unit

ACADEMICS | QUALIFICATIONS | SKILLS | EXPERIENCE
A. ACADEMICS | WORK EXPERIENCE
Degree in Finance/Accounting designations in minimum one or multiple areas... Chartered Accountant [CA], Certified Public Accountant [CPA], or similar.
Senior level Finance experience of at least 5 years, with minimum 2 years in managing a team or department.
B. LICENSES | CERTIFICATIONS
Membership of ACCA, NBAA or regulatory body would be highly desired.
C. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS
Functional Knowledge
Thorough knowledge and solid understanding of Tanzania’s Financial/Accounting/Taxation, and other relevant laws and obligations.
Able to see Finance in an overall business perspective.
Strong knowledge and experience to be able to manage required Finance functions and tactical initiatives across multiple lines of business.
Up-to-date knowledge of statutory obligations and remittances (VAT, WHT, PAYE, NSSF, etc.)
Working with Others
Punctual at all times, recognizing the importance of leading by example and smooth running of the team.
Timely dissemination of relevant and useful information to team.

Communicates effectively & comfortably in writing and verbally with internal & external ‘customers’, stakeholders, management and Board.

Technical Application | Computer Literacy
[MUST HAVE] MS Office application literate, with strong proficiency in MS WORD, POWER POINT, Advanced MS EXCEL skills.
Working knowledge of TALLY software, and similar Accounting Software packages. Knowledge of IDS (Guest Management System), MICROS (Restaurant Management System), VISION (EXACT software) or similar would be a definite asset.
Quick learner of accounting, guest management or other relevant software systems.
