UN Vacancy – Facilitator for UN Women events, Tanzania

Expected Outputs
  • Set of recommendations and policy messages on addressing SDGs GEWE indicators data gaps in FYDP II M&E Framework and other macro processes
  • Key Capacity needs identified for National Statistical Systems – Sectors & LGAs for regular and periodic collection, analysis and reporting on SDG 5
  • Proposed partnership initiatives on monitoring and reporting progress on SDG 5 and related gender targets and indicators in other SDGs at national and sub national levels.
  • Action plan for strengthening gender mainstreaming in the on-going SDGs localization processes including coordination, monitoring and reporting.
  • Overall Report and knowledge product for advocacy, strategic engagement and public awareness.
Tasks/Scope of work:
The facilitator will ensure that the expected results and objectives of the SGDs Gender Statistics workshop and High Level Forum are delivered and achieved.  The facilitator will:
  1. Develop agendas and detailed programmes for the two events.
  2. Oversee coordination of the events, including follow up communication with those involved in the programme of the events.
  3. Guided by the events objectives, facilitate the events to ensure the effective participation of all members, and capturing key areas of inputs as per set objectives.
  4. Input into policy messages for presentation and deliberations at the High-Level Panel (in collaboration with Documentalist)
  5. Input into overall Report – knowledge product for advocacy, strategic engagement and public awareness and debrief UN Women and organising partners
  6. Work with Documentalist to submit a report/ debrief UN Women and partners on summary of the strategic discussions from the events
  7. Revise Report as per inputs and Submit final version
Duration of Assignment:
The total duration of the assignment is seven (7) days allocated as follows:
  • One day for preparation.
  • A total of three (3) days for facilitation of the workshop and One (1) day for the High-Level Forum
  • Day (1) day input into Policy Messages for High Level Forum
  • One day (1) Review report developed by the Documentalist and work on final inputs from UN Women and Partners
Working modalities:
The facilitator will work closely with the Documentalist and report to UN Women senior management. The facilitator will also liaise with key stakeholders as needed to finalize Workshop Report and Key Messages.
Main Deliverables/outputs
  • A finalized methodology and programme for the SDGs Gender Statistics Workshop.
  • Facilitation of the events.
  • Inputs into workshop report and key Policy Messages
Submission of the reports
The reports and action plans shall be submitted to UN Women no more than 10 days after the specific events.

Education
  • At least Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Political Science, Anthropology, law, Sociology, Development Studies or a related field.
Experience
  • At least five years of experience in women’s rights, gender equality and gender mainstreaming.
  • Experience in facilitation, including experience of supporting strategic planning processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven capacity to write compelling, understandable and simple reports.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with the gender dimensions of the SDGs, gender statistics, developing partners and government would be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with the Tanzanian context.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Swahili.
